Customer Needs

After a state walkthrough, Sioux Center Community Hospital & Health Center Avera decided to implement a security system that would prevent infant abduction and keep patients protected. They had their selection down to two options, and needed help making a decision.

The hospital also needed to replace an outdated nurse call system from the 1960s.

Solution

CEC worked with Sioux Center Community Hospital & Health Center Avera on integrating an infant security solution. After seeing what else CEC offered, especially in terms of nurse/patient communications, the hospital also decided to work with CEC on nurse call system integration.

With these healthcare communications systems in place, the hospital now has:

  • An infant security system that keeps newborns safe in the OB area.
  • A cutting-edge nurse call solution that differs from a traditional copper wire system.
  • Configurable healthcare communications options that let staff members determine what the call lights and sounds actually mean.
  • Quicker call routing so mobile nurses receive messages quickly, which positively impacts patient satisfaction.
  • Reporting functions that sync with the nurse call system to let staff members know which patients require the most assistance, how quickly lights are being answered , etc.
  • A user-friendly, straightforward nurse call system that staff members feel comfortable using on their own.

During installation, we ran into frequency issues because we’re in an older building. CEC’s work was being impacted by something else in the building. They went out of the way to locate the source of the problem and find an answer so we could make a smooth transition. No matter whose fault it was, or what was causing it, CEC wanted to figure it out.
