March 29, 2021 | CEC News

Training program prepares apprentices for technology careers Hiawatha, IA (March 29, 2021) – CEC (Communications Engineering Company), a nationally recognized technology solutions provider and systems integrator in the Midwest, is excited to announce the first three graduates of its Technical Career Advancement Program (TCAP). This Electronic Systems Technician Registered Apprenticeship Program was launched in 2018 in collaboration with the IowaWORKS Center and U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship. On March 26, CEC recognized TCAP’s first three graduates. All three completed the program early and are now employed full-time at CEC: TCAP is a four-year program that combines on-the-job training with classroom-style instruction provided by CEC. While they learn, apprentices earn a paycheck, receive benefits such as health insurance and 401k plans, and graduate with valuable technology training and no student debt. “People growth journeys are a priority for CEC,” says Shereen Bender, CEC’s vice president of people and organizational excellence. “We built the TCAP program to make it a reality for a generation that is ready to grow their careers in technology in a structured yet flexible program. It has already paid dividends!” After completing months of general industry education, apprentices choose their technology specialization: AV, safety and security, or structured cabling. After gaining hands-on skills in their selected area, the final step is to complete important industry and manufacturer certifications that ensure they’re able to meet customer expectations. “CEC’s comprehensive Registered Apprenticeship program ensures that their apprentices thrive in the training environment. Through CEC’s fantastic level of commitment, they have developed successful and skilled employees,” says Kate Pine, IowaWORKS business marketing specialist. “For businesses, the Registered Apprenticeship earn-and-learn model is a great way to invest in Iowa’s future.”   Upon program completion, graduates have cutting-edge skills and experiences needed to fill technician, project foreman, and electronic systems technician positions at CEC. In these roles, they can build their real-world skills to advance to higher-level engineering positions. CEC Helps Healthcare Organizations Prepare to Safely and Confidently Store COVID-19 Vaccines

December 9, 2020 | CEC News

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Temperature-monitoring technology ensures vaccine effectiveness and automates compliance reporting Hiawatha, IA (Dec. 9, 2020) – CEC (Communications Engineering Company), a nationally recognized technology solutions provider and systems integrator in the Midwest, stands ready to help hospitals, pharmacies, and medical clinics prepare to store vital COVID-19 vaccines as they make their way across the country. CEC’s team of in-house healthcare technology experts—including engineers, clinical application specialists, installers and technicians, and account executives—have the skills, expertise, and resources needed to help healthcare organizations prepare to safely and confidently maintain extremely cold storage temperatures (as low as -94 degrees F) to preserve the vaccine’s active ingredients. Through a partnership with Primex, CEC staff members are trained to deploy and integrate OneVue Sense temperature-monitoring technology. This technology helps hospitals, pharmacies, and medical clinics maintain proper vaccine storage temperatures, detect any temperature variations, and alert staff when temperature levels fall outside parameters so action can be taken quickly. This technology also frees healthcare staff from having to continuously monitor and log temperatures each day per CDC guidelines. “To support healthcare organizations as they protect individuals and communities, Primex’s temperature-monitoring technology ensures vaccine effectiveness and automates compliance reporting,” says Kim Lehrman, CEC chief executive officer. “CEC is ready to help healthcare organizations adopt OneVue Sense now so they’re ready when vaccines start to arrive.” OneVue Sense technology can also monitor temperature, humidity, and air pressure in patient care areas to ensure that isolation rooms are kept at proper levels to limit virus spread.
