Healthcare communications technology has changed significantly since CEC first entered the healthcare market in 1956: from bell-and-buzzer electrical systems to state-of-the-art nurse call solutions that connect patients, caregivers, and facilities 24/7 – no matter their location.
After becoming a Rauland distributor in May 2018, we had an opportunity to help our healthcare customers increase patient safety, enhance staff efficiency, and improve nursing workflow. To take our healthcare solutions and services to the next level, CEC created a new position: a healthcare clinical applications specialist (CAS).
Meg Nugent, BSN, RN, MHA, who is based in Des Moines, joined the CEC staff last fall as our very first CAS. She works side by side with hospitals and other healthcare facilities as she leads system implementation and training, and identifies and solves customer needs from a clinical perspective.
Previously serving as senior vice president of clinical affairs for Iowa Healthcare Collaborative, Nugent understands the power of the healthcare communications systems that CEC customers purchase – and she wants to help each of our client realize their own system’s power, too. By showing healthcare professionals how technology can improve their environment, she’ll play a vital role in improving patient care and satisfaction levels.
“I can assist anyone on CEC’s healthcare team, from the account executives and the sales process through coming onsite after system implementation and helping healthcare facilities annually analyze device usage, optimize staff procedures, and improve workflows,” says Nugent. “In a simplistic way, I help the sales team work with clinical staff to realize what their clinical needs are. Then I translate that to help the sales team and our technical staff find solutions and design the right type of healthcare communications system.”
With several big healthcare projects underway for 2019, Nugent is well on her way to helping CEC improve its healthcare offerings and our customers advance patient care.
