T. Wall Properties

TECHNOLOGIES: Fire and Security

Background

T. Wall Properties is a Madison, WI-based commercial real estate development firm that owns more than 3 million square feet of space. It’s one of the largest developers in Wisconsin. The company has created and developed some of Madison’s most prominent master-planned business communities, including City Center West, High Crossing Environ, and The Center for Industry & Commerce.

Customer Needs

Initially, T. Wall Properties was looking for a service provider to upgrade the fire alarm system in its Wisconsin Trade Center, which is the largest building in the Greenway Center office park. After the success of the Wisconsin Trade Center project, T. Wall Properties also looked to CEC for fire alarm system testing and monitoring for approximately 44 buildings (3 million square feet) across Madison and surrounding areas.

Solution

To make sure T. Wall Properties’ buildings were code-compliant, CEC established a fire alarm system inspection and monitoring process.
As part of this project, CEC gave T. Wall Properties access to BuildingReports, which is an online inspection and monitoring solution. With this solution in place, T. Wall Properties now has:

  • A way to store inspection and monitoring documentation electronically. The inspection data is stored on a secure web server that’s backed up daily and archived off-site.
  • A one-stop shop to call with fire alarm questions and concerns for all its buildings in the Madison, WI, area.
  • 24/7 access to the most up-to-date inspection and monitoring records possible via BuildingReports. The records can be viewed, downloaded, e-mailed, or printed.
  • Intelligent reports that locate failed devices, explain the reason for failure, propose solutions, and display codes and standards that address device failures. It also warns T. Wall Properties if any of its devices are under product recall, or about warranties that will soon be expiring.

We chose to work with CEC for its quality of service and how the company builds relationships. It’s more of a partnership vs. a sale. Those things, combined with the economics of CEC's services, help drive it home to upper management.
