The Evangelical Free Church of Lena was established in 1980 in Lena, IL. As membership and attendance at the church grew, a larger facility was needed. As a result, Phase 2 of the church’s original building plan was implemented. The dedication of the larger facility was held in November 1993.

Customer Needs

More than a decade ago, the church Chuck Downing was attending needed a better sound system. After struggling to find a system that met his list of criteria, Chuck contacted the authorized Bose installer in his area: CEC. The end result was a sound system that worked perfectly in the church space. Chuck eventually left that church and started in a new role at the Evangelical Free Church of Lena. The church leadership had been planning for a sound system upgrade in the sanctuary and fellowship hall, and asked Chuck to find the right solution. The church was experiencing drop-out spots and hotspots, even after several sound system components had already been replaced. Based on his previous experience with CEC at his former church, Chuck reached out to CEC for help once again.

SOLUTION

With new professional sound systems in its sanctuary and fellowship hall, consisting of two Bose Panaray speakers augmented with subwoofers, a four-channel amplifier, new mixing board, several microphones, and monitor speakers, Evangelical Free Church of Lena now has:

A configurable professional power amplifier that provides concert-quality sound with a high level of scalability.
A sanctuary sound system that provides 17 stage mic inputs (several more than the previous system) and offers a design that reduces the number of speakers needed.
A new fellowship hall sound system, which provides outstanding vocal intelligibility with just one speaker despite the acoustically demanding space.
A sound system that handles music well, but also does an excellent job with speech clarity.
A system that no longer calls for regular repair work, reducing the church’s maintenance costs and time spent searching for parts.
