Bellin Hospital

As part of a new, 27,189-square-foot emergency department, Bellin Hospital was exploring nurse call options. Staff members were looking for a system that integrated with existing medical equipment. Before making a decision, CEC and Bellin Hospital researched a variety of nurse call options so they could identify a solution that would best address the hospital’s needs.

CEC implemented a new nurse call solution for Bellin Hospital after staff members saw the system in action. Starting first with its emergency department, Bellin later rolled the system out to other departments.

With this new nurse call solution in place, Bellin Hospital now has:

  • A rack-mounted nurse call system that runs on CAT-5/CAT-6 wiring, eliminating the extra wiring that was necessary with the facility’s previous nurse call system.
  • A nurse call solution that’s more affordable than the hospital’s previous system, but offers more in terms of capabilities and features.
  • Three hospital areas that are connected to one nurse call system: the emergency department, observation rooms, and Kid Care.
  • Monitoring within Bellin Hospital for the neuroscience building across the street. The building’s bathrooms feature push-for-help buttons, but Bellin Health System needed a way to monitor the alarms after-hours (when the restrooms are accessible, but no one is staffing the office). Those calls are now routed to Bellin Hospital’s rehab unit to ensure a fast response at any hour.
